Why we gather
Slow Food represents a worldwide network, of thousands of individual communities who unite around a common belief that the food of our Mother Earth should be good, clean, and fair for all people, animals, and the environment.
We gather in our homes, yards, yurts, places of worship, restaurants, cafes, and parks to share in the common enjoyment and celebration of food and community. Once every two years, we gather as one Slow Food family in Torino, Italy to share in the global language of celebrating food. We learn through our senses of sight, smell, touch, hearing, and of course taste.
We gather to preserve history. We gather to ensure a brighter and safer food system for our children and families. We gather to celebrate our heritage, our friends and families, our lives. We hope one day you will gather with us.
The theme of this year's convening is Loving the Earth. A commonality of good, clean, and fair food is our beautiful Earth. The soils, the forests and trees, the oceans, lakes, and streams feed our mouths. We must take time to appreciate and respect the miracle of food and its growth. In gathering, we will celebrate the Earth and those who till and harvest and catch, so that our mouths and souls will be fed.
This blog is designed to share our Slow Food stories with you as we prepare to travel as a 12-delegate family to Torino, where we will celebrate with friends of old and new at the International Slow Food gathering. Thank you for your support!

Green Mountain Snails
We are Slow Food. We represent all that thrives from the good, clean, and fair of Vermont. We represent the communities of Vermont; farmers, co-producers, artisans, eaters, cheesemongers, chefs, students, fair food champions, educators, foragers. We have come to tell our stories, and we will travel across the sea to share them with the rest of the world at Terra Madre Salone del Gusto in September. Onward to Torino!
